Feminine Mistake? I’m not sure.

I’m fascinated by the lively debate Leslie Bennetts’ book The Feminine Mistake: Are We Giving Up Too Much about the economics of staying home with your kids has ignited. As a new mother (my son Barrett was born December 6, 2006), I admit an overwhelming desire to spend all my time with my little man. But, as a career professional, the daily challenge of my job gives me very satisfying stimulation beyond baby’s breath and diapers.
In reality, it’s not a black and white decision, but it is a woman’s personal choice that she needs to make by counseling those involved in her situation (husband, baby’s father, boss, child caretaker, etc.), reviewing information available to her (Bennetts’ book or another point of view like From High Heels to Bunny Slippersby Christine Conners), and asking what it is she’s trying to accomplish.
To work or not to work? Personally, I just want eight hours of sleep.
