Softcup Extends Product Line with Reusable Softcup

One Reusable Softcup Can Be Used For An Entire Menstrual Cycle

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (November 8, 2011) – Women's health company Evofem today announced a new reusable addition to the Softcup line.  The reusable Softcup offers women a safe, eco-friendly and cost effective alternative to tampons and pads.  A single body-friendly reusable Softcup can be used for an entire menstrual cycle by cleaning the product regularly, at least every 12 hours. The reusable Softcup is sold in packs of two for $4.99 and will be available starting November 8, 2011 at www.softcup.com.

“The reusable Softcup offers women a new option in period protection,” said Tracy Saenz, vice president of sales and marketing. “We know that many women who have tried Softcup prefer it over other forms of period protection. We developed the reusable product to appeal to the consumer’s who value Softcup’s superior comfort but wanted a more eco-conscious product.”

Softcup developed the reusable version with the same body-friendly design of its original product but added in a slightly thicker -- yet flexible -- reservoir for repeated use.   The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that women change their tampons every 4-6 hours, which means that the average woman can use as many as 20 tampons during a normal menstrual cycle.  The average cost of a box of 20 tampons can range between $5 and $6.  With the reusable Softcup, women will use just one product for the entire cycle at a cost of about $2.50 per unit.

About Instead Softcup

Instead Softcup is a body-friendly, convenient alternative to pads and tampons. Designed by a woman, Softcup is a flexible menstrual cup worn internally, around the cervix, which collects rather than absorbs menstrual fluid. Women can wear Softcup for up to 12 hours, making it perfect for moms, runners and athletes, college students, women with irregular periods, peri-menopausal women, or any busy woman. It can be worn confidently during any type of activity, including sleeping, swimming and sports, and even during intercourse for mess-free sex. Unlike tampons, Softcup doesn't change the body's natural pH balance or contain dioxins, and it's made of a non-irritating, latex-free, non-absorbent plastic material that isn't linked to toxic shock syndrome (TSS). As a strong proponent of the softcup I am eagerly awaiting the re-usable. One idea...how about packaging a wipe with the softcup? I am speaking of the non re-usable. I find that i carry a wipe with me if I am changing during the day due to heavy flow.
Keep up your excellent work.

Thanks for your comment, Christy. We have definitely considered pairing wipes with Softcup, however we have not found a way to include this and keep Softcup affordable. We are continuing to investigate the possibility, however.
